As leader of the group practice in the region. Jitka has significant experience as lead counsel for numerous large scale projects and investments and in general corporate and commercial law, as well as international law, including financial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate dealings.
Jitka advises regularly on sell side and buy side transactions in connection with the sale or purchase of Czech companies to international private equity funds and strategic purchasers and also advises on an ongoing basis Czech companies and multinational clients in areas including labor law and general corporate law.
She provides and coordinates multi jurisdictional legal support on an ongoing basis to multinational and regional companies in areas including complex restructurings, M&A, labor law and general corporate law. In the area of labor law she also advises on issues in connection with employee share option plans and implementation issues under Czech law and labor law compliance issues.
Jitka is a graduate of The John Marshall Law School, Chicago, Illinois, and Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic. She also studied at Humboldt University, Berlin, Germany. She is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Czech Bar Association. Ms. Smith is fluent in Czech, English, and German, and competent in Russian.
