Shantanu Surpure is a global lawyer with extensive experience in corporate and securities law, including cross-border corporate transactions, M&A, venture capital, private equity and capital markets transactions.

Shantanu represents multinational corporations, venture capital and private equity funds, emerging growth companies and entrepreneurs, as well as private investors, across a broad range of industries, including in the technology, media, green energy fintech, and crypto/blockchain/web3 sectors.

Shantanu previously practiced with leading international law firms in London, Singapore and Silicon Valley, and also was general counsel of a renewable energy company. He has extensive experience in cross-border projects across multiple sectors and coordinates global, regional and in-country projects across a wide range of industries.

Shantanu is also a frequent speaker on cross-border M&A, venture capital and private equity and entrepreneurship, including at the Crypto Valley Association, Harvard, Stanford, Columbia Law School, Wharton (Wharton India Economic Forum) and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). He has also been quoted by and/or had articles published in Forbes, Reuters, International Financial Law Review, Asian Venture Capital Journal, The Economic Times, India Business Law Journal, the Crypto Valley Journal and Crypto Valley Association.

Shantanu was also an Articles Editor of the Columbia Journal of Asian Law and previously served as a Director of the Columbia Law School Association. He holds a BA Magna cum Laude from Brown University/London School of Economics, an MA Jurisprudence from Oxford University (where he won the Gilbert Murray Trust Award) and a JD from Columbia Law School (with a Certificate of Achievement from Columbia Law School’s Parker School of Foreign and Comparative Law).

Shantanu also holds a Certificate in Public International Law from the Hague Academy of International Law at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

Shantanu is a member of the bar in the US (California, New York and Nevada) and India, and is qualified in England and Wales and in Hong Kong, and is fluent in Hindi and Marathi.
